The Westport Harbour wave buoy is currently offline and isn't transmitting any new data at present.

The wave buoy came loose from its mooring recently - the buoy has been recovered and we hope to have it functional again soon.

Wave buoy

The wave buoy measures the wave height, and the time it takes for two successive wave crests to pass a fixed point (wave period). This is important for forecasting the size and power of waves.
